• 5/25/08 - Musa and Yoni returned from Johannesburg, South Africa where they screened A SON'S SACRIFICE at INPUT, the International Public Television Screening Conference. A SON'S SACRIFICE was selected to represent the USA at the annual showcase of innovative public television programs.

• Mark your calendars and tell your friends: A SON'S SACRIFICE will air nationally on PBS' Independent Lens on January 22, 2008 at 10PM (check local listings).

• 12/10/07 - A SON'S SACRIFICE won the Short Documentary Award at the 2007 International Documentary Association (IDA) Distinguished Documentary Achievement Awards. Other honorees at the Los Angeles gala included Spike Lee and This American Life.

• 10/20/07 - Musa and Yoni returned from two weeks in Tehran, Iran at the "Cinema Verite" Iran International Documentary Film Festival. A SON'S SACRIFICE was one of the few films representing American filmmakers at the "North, South" section of the inaugural festival. You can see Yoni's photos from Iran.

• 5/4/07 - A SON'S SACRIFICE won the "Best Documentary Short" award at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival! Musa, Marco, and Yoni were in Chinatown to receive the award in an auditorium filled with filmmakers, actors, and press. Thanks for your support!

• 5/1/07 - Thank you for making HalalFest a huge success! Hundreds of people came out to Queens for the block party at the slaughterhouse. Halal food was eaten, Henna tattoos painted, and conversations started between people who would have never met.

• 4/09/07 - A SON'S SACRIFICE will make its East Coast premiere at the Full Fame Documentary Film Festival. The film is screening on Saturday, April 14, at 12:45 PM at Civic Center 2.

• 4/9/07 - The University of Vermont's Department of Religion and Wesleyan University's "Islam in Conversation Week" screened the film for lively audiences. At both universities, Yoni and Musa discussed its themes with students and faculty.

• 3/05/07 - A SON'S SACRIFICE screened at the True/False Film Festival, an amazing weekend of documentary comradery in Columbia, Missouri.

• 11/22/06 - A SON'S SACRIFICE will make its international premiere in competition at IDFA (International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam), the largest documentary film festival in the world. The film is one of 13 films in competition for the Silver Cub prize for best short documentary. The catalog description is online.

• 8/18/06 - The LA Jewish Journal published a review ("Jewish, Muslim Filmmakers Team Up on Documentary"). "...Brook and Syeed show the complexities of their young hero..."

• 8/1/06 - A SON'S SACRIFICE has been invited to screen at DocuWeek, the 10th Annual Theatrical Documentary Showcase presented by the International Documentary Association. The showcase qualifies documentary films for Academy Award consideration.
